Keys Left

I was talking with my friend David Blackburn when he mentioned KeysLeft.com. Let the weight of the tagline wash over you:

You have a finite number of keystrokes left in your hands before you die.

Think of all the things you have wanted to write in your life? Writing a book? Developing that killer app? Writing letters to loved ones?

Instead what do I spend most of my time writing? Emails that answer technical questions that have been answered already on many occasions. I often write the same email multiple times and have the same conversations with multiple people. It is constant explaning something to one person / group then getting to explain it again and again later.

David told me that we need to stop writing emails and start writing blog posts. David’s advice hit me hard. I need to take the time to capture my thoughts and answers in my blog. I will only need to detail it once then I can share what I wrote with a simple link.

Just today I was talking with David and we started discussing something technical. I know what we discussed and decided will impact other people and we will need to have the same conversation again. I took the time to record our conversation and it will be a future post soon.

Thanks David!
